The Journey of a Startup Business: Challenging Established Corrosion Control Practices with an Innovative Solution
Presented by: Ehsan Espid, Ph.D., P.Eng. CEO of NanoTech Innovation Inc.

Presentation Summary:
This presentation examines the challenges and realities of bringing innovative corrosion-mitigation coatings to market. Despite the global need for cleaner, faster, and more sustainable solutions, startups often struggle to compete with established brands and long-standing industrial practices. Using the journey of NanoTech Innovation Inc. as an example, the talk highlights obstacles such as building technical credibility, educating customers, and overcoming skepticism in conservative sectors. It also outlines the strategies, partnerships, and testing approaches that helped transform NanoTech’s nanotechnology-based coating from a lab concept into a field-proven solution.

Qualifications:
As a Board nominee, one must be a full member of IEBCA in good standing (i.e., paid annual membership fee) for at least six months prior to the AGM (November 29).

Expectations:
1- As a Board member, you will spend about 10 hours per month attending Board meetings and performing other related activities.
2- This is volunteering position and does not involve any remuneration, except for the expenses incurred for IEBCA activities.
