Please join the Iranian Engineers of BC Association (IEBCA) in an informative webinar presentation by Mr. Hassan Merali, CPA, from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), which is a multinational professional service firm ranked the second-largest professional service network in the world. This virtual event (through Zoom Meeting) is in English and free of charge, and it is open to the public. EGBC members may claim 1 Continuing Education (CE) Hour for attending the event.
An understanding of accounting and taxation principles and their relationship is a key to the financial health of businesses. This presentation is intended to help engineers who are running (or planning to run) their own business in a Canadian environment, and more specifically British Columbia, acquire the basic (and yet critical) knowledge of accounting and taxation principles and techniques. The topics included in the presentation are: incorporation and its advantages and disadvantages, financial statements, corporate tax, personal tax and shareholders loan, payroll, and GST.
The presentation is aimed to empower the audience with the basic accounting and taxation knowledge relevant to small businesses. Despite their criticality to the financial well-being of businesses, the material included in the presentation is intended to be understood by people with the least knowledge of the material. A Q/A session at the end of the presentation will provide an opportunity for the audience to receive answers to their questions from the presenter.
Note: On the day of the event, the admission to the presentation room starts at 5:15 PM, and the program starts at 5:30 PM sharp. During this time (5:15 -5:30), the audience will have a chance to network with each other in the room through the Chat Box.

Mr. Hassan Merali is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with over ten years of professional accounting experience. Currently, as a Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) in the private tax group, he works with entrepreneurs, owner/managers and family groups by assisting them with their accounting, assurance, and tax compliance needs, while also focusing on the day-to-day challenges they face in their businesses. On the personal side, spending time with the family and going to the gym are at the core of his activities, and he enjoys travelling and playing hockey in his spare time.
