An understanding of accounting and taxation principles and their relationship is a key to the financial health of businesses. This presentation is intended to help engineers who are running (or planning to run) their own business in a Canadian environment, and more specifically British Columbia, acquire the basic (and yet critical) knowledge of accounting and taxation principles and techniques. The topics included in the presentation are: incorporation and its advantages and disadvantages, financial statements, corporate tax, personal tax and shareholders loan, payroll, and GST.

The presentation is aimed to empower the audience with the basic accounting and taxation knowledge relevant to small businesses. Despite their criticality to the financial well-being of businesses, the material included in the presentation is intended to be understood by people with the least knowledge of the material. A Q/A session at the end of the presentation will provide an opportunity for the audience to receive answers to their questions from the presenter.

Note: On the day of the event, the admission to the presentation room starts at 5:15 PM, and the program starts at 5:30 PM sharp. During this time (5:15 -5:30), the audience will have a chance to network with each other in the room through the Chat Box.
