Annual General Meeting (AGM) and a Presentation on Best Practices Guides for Deployment of Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargers

The Iranian Engineers of BC Association (IEBCA) would like to invite you to join us in an informative technical presentation by Dr. Hamid Atighechi, P.Eng. that will be followed by the 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

In the first portion of the webinar, the technical presentation takes the audience into a tour of the most current guidelines on deployment of Electric Vehicles (EV) chargers from planning through operation. You will learn about different stages of a successful deployment program including planning, procurement, design, construction, operation and trouble response, and interoperability. Finally, the grid impacts of EV charging stations, associated costs for the station owners, and potential mitigating solutions are discussed.

After the Q/A session of the technical presentation, the IEBCA's 2020 AGM program starts. This includes a presentation reporting on the 2020 annual activities of the Board of Directors (BOD) that will be followed by an introduction of the slate of candidates and election of the new members of the BOD by IEBCA members.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Hamid Atighechi leads the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure team in the Advanced Transportation sector at Powertech Labs. He oversees planning and execution of charging infrastructure systems for battery electric vehicles. In this role, he works with clients and government agencies on siting, technology assessment, and operation of new charging infrastructure and develops plans for public outreach and education on infrastructure issues. Prior to joining Powertech Labs in 2019, Dr. Atighchi was with BC Hydro Transmission Planning developing capital plans, Remedial Action Schemes (RAS), and conducting system stability assessments.

Dr. Atighechi received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a Certificate in Business Management from Simon Fraser University (SFU). He is a registered Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscience BC, a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) by PMI, and an active member of IEEE Taskforces on Dynamic Average Value Modeling and Real-Time Contingency Analysis.
