In celebration of International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), the Iranian Engineers of British Columbia Association (IEBCA) is proud to host a thought-provoking Panel Discussion featuring accomplished women professionals from diverse engineering and technology fields.

This inspiring evening will spotlight the journeys, challenges, and achievements of women in engineering and related industries. Whether you're a student, early-career professional, or seasoned engineer, this event offers valuable insights, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

About the Speaker:

Anahita Bashardoust, P.Eng. Team Lead at WSP
Anahita is a Process Mechanical Engineer and Team Lead at WSP, with over a decade of experience in the water and wastewater treatment industry across Iran, Australia, and Canada. She brings a global perspective to infrastructure design and delivery, having worked on major municipal and industrial treatment projects. Anahita is passionate about mentorship and empowering women in engineering, and she leads a diverse team of engineers with empathy and purpose.

Mahsoo Naderi. P.Eng, PMP, RI, Director Facilities Services at BCIT
Mahsoo is a seasoned engineering leader with over 20 years of experience in engineering management, infrastructure development, and project governance. She specializes in leading complex, multi-disciplinary teams and delivering major infrastructure programs with a focus on building resilient communities. Mahsoo brings strong business acumen and a collaborative approach to her work. She holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and Construction Management from the University of Alberta and served an elected councillor for Engineers and Geoscientists of BC. Currently she is Director of Facilities Services at BCIT with a direct hand in managing over 2.4 million square feet of space.

Sepideh Azargoon, Architect AIBC
Sepideh is a Registered Architect in British Columbia with over 11 years of experience. She studied architecture in Iran and moved to Canada in 2012. She is currently a Senior Architect at Francl Architecture, where she leads high-rise residential projects in downtown Vancouver. Her experience includes residential, institutional, commercial, and school projects. Sepideh has strong skills in design, project management, and construction coordination. She is also an active volunteer with Vancouver Persian in Architecture (VPA), supporting the local Persian architectural community.

Shahrzad Khosravi, PhD., Associate Professor- University Canada West
Shahrzad holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and has over 20 years of experience in project management. Since 2010, she has been teaching project management at the post-secondary level, combining academic knowledge with real-world application. In addition to her teaching, she provides project management services and consultancy across a range of industries, including mining, clean energy, power, and oil & gas. Her work focuses on helping organizations enhance project performance through practical, efficient, and tailored project management solutions.

Sona Kazemi, Ph.D., P.Eng. (not practicing), Industrial Technology Advisor at National Research Council Canada (NRC-IRAP)
Sona is a seasoned chemical engineer with a PhD from the University of British Columbia and over 15 years of multidisciplinary experience. She has led major research and development initiatives in clean energy, water and wastewater treatment, and carbon capture and utilization. In her current role as an Industrial Technology Advisor at the National Research Council of Canada, Dr. Kazemi bridges the gap between science and industry, helping Canadian innovators transform ideas into market-ready products and services.
