Hydroelectric Generation in British Columbia

Sat Apr 27 2019 21:00:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)

More than 90% of BC Hydro's generation is produced by hydroelectric generation, which is generally the most cost-effective, clean and reliable option. Over 80% of BC Hydro's installed generating capacity is at hydroelectric installations in the Peace and Columbia river basins. This presentation includes: • Status of hydroelectric generation system in BC, including the main facilities; • Structure of a large hydro dam with focus on vertical turbines and generators; • Introducing Site C Clean Energy Project as one of the largest ongoing infrastructure projects in BC; and • Prehistoric bison (discovery!) among big finds of BC Hydro's Site C heritage preservation plan.

Location:

Coquitlam library (Room 127), 1169 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam, BC V3B 0Y1
