Sat Nov 26 2022 22:00:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)
Please join the Iranian Engineers of BC Association (IEBCA) in an in-person event that includes IEBCA’s 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and a presentation from Engineers and Geoscientists BC on “Regulation of Firms”. This year, we are honored to have our AGM in the presence of Mark Adams, P.Eng., the President of Engineers and Geoscientists BC. The program is in English, and it is open to the public, free of charge. Members of Engineers and Geoscientists BC may claim 2.5 Continuing Education (CE) Hours for attending the event.
Session 1 – IEBCA’s 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM)
In the first part of the program, the IEBCA’s 2022 AGM includes a 2021-2022 Annual Report of IEBCA, introduction of the slate of candidates nominated for 2022-2023 Board of Directors, and election of the new Board members by IEBCA members. Session 2 – A Presentation on “Understanding the Regulation of Firms”
In the second part of the program, Mark Adams, P.Eng., the President of Engineers and Geoscientists BC and Celina Kwasniak, P.Eng. will present on the background and status of “Regulation of Firms” as enforced by Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
The Professional Governance Act requires Engineers and Geoscientists BC to regulate firms that engage in the practice of professional engineering or geoscience. Engineers and Geoscientists BC has worked actively, through consultation with government and registrants, to develop a regulatory program. This program ensures legislative requirements can be met without undue administrative burden on firms, while supporting our shared goal of strengthening public safety and protecting the environment. These new requirements bring Engineers and Geoscientists BC in line with other regulatory bodies across Canada that uphold responsibilities and requirements for engineering and geoscience firms. It enhances public protection by establishing standards of practice for all firms engaging in professional engineering and geoscience – standards enforced through regular audits to ensure compliance.
