IEBCA 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and an EGBC Presentation on "Navigating Registration for your Professional Engineer License"

Please join the Iranian Engineers of BC Association (IEBCA) in an in-person event that includes IEBCA’s 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and a presentation by Jason Ong, Director, Registration from Engineers and Geoscientists BC on “Navigating Registration for your Professional Engineer License”. The program is in English, and it is open to the public free of charge. Registrants of Engineers and Geoscientists BC can claim two Continuing Education (CE) Hours for attending the event.


Session 1 – IEBCA’s 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM)

In the first part of the program, the IEBCA’s 2023 AGM includes a 2022-2023 Annual Report of IEBCA, introduction of the slate of candidates nominated for 2023-2024 Board of Directors, and election of the new Board members by IEBCA members. Dr. Mohsen Mandegari, the President of IEBCA presents this part of the program on behalf of the Board of Directors of IEBCA. For details of the AGM part of the program, please visit here:

Session 2 – A Presentation on “Navigating Registration for your Professional Engineer License”

In the second part of the program, Jason Ong, Director of Registration at Engineers and Geoscientists BC will present on the background and status of “Professional Engineering Registration in British Columbia as regulated by Engineers and Geoscientists BC.

This presentation is intended for internationally educated individuals who are planning to apply for their professional engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia. It is designed to address the tools and tips necessary to prepare for meeting the academic and experience requirements for registration. This will be a resource for all who intend to apply within the next 6–12 months. A Q/A session at the end of the presentation will provide an opportunity for the audience to receive answers to their questions from the presenters.

The event is free of charge; however, registration is required (link below). Besides, due to COVID-19 still being around, by registering for the event, you agree that:
1. You, as a meeting attendee, confirm that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

About the Speaker:

Jason Ong
Director, Registration
Engineers and Geoscientists BC

Jason Ong is the Director, Registration at Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC), based out of Burnaby. The Registration Department oversees the licensing process for applications for trainee status and professional registration. EGBC receives over 4000 applications per year from individuals applying for designations for the first time. In this role, Jason manages a team of 19 staff and oversees the coordination of a large number of volunteers comprised of engineering and geoscience practitioners who provide valuable contribution to different aspects of the qualifications process. Much of Jason’s focus has been to help align EGBC’s policies and registration practices with the Professional Governance Act (PGA) which came into force for several BC professional regulators in the natural and built environment on February 5, 2021. Jason is currently EGBC’s lead in collaborating with the Provincial Government regarding the recently announced legislation intended to reduce barriers to registration for internationally-educated professionals.
