IEBCA-SITEBC Joint Webinar: Registration of Internationally-Trained Engineers in British Columbia

Fri Sep 24 2021 00:30:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)

Please join the Iranian Engineers of BC Association (IEBCA) and the Society of Internationally-Trained Engineers of BC (SITEBC) in an informative webinar presentation by Caroline Westra, Manager, Professional Licensee Program & Experience Assessment, Engineers and Geoscientists BC. This virtual event (through Zoom Meeting) is in English and free of charge, and it is open to the public. Members of Engineers and Geoscientists BC may claim 1 Continuing Education (CE) Hour for attending the event.

Are you an internationally-trained engineer or geoscientist, or interested in a career in the engineering and geoscience fields? You should then know that in Canada, and more specifically in British Columbia (BC), one may not engage in such fields while carrying the title of Engineer or Geoscientist. As a self-regulated organization, Engineers and Geoscientists BC is mandated to regulate the practice in these disciplines through various mechanisms, including the licensing of engineering and geoscience professionals. This is true for both those educated locally (in Canada) and internationally. In other words, such professionals must apply for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC. This presentation includes a brief overview of the application process with an emphasis on aspects that are specifically relevant to internationally-trained engineers. Information will also be provided regarding additional guidance and support that may be of interest to the attendees. A Q/A session is planned in the last part of this event, so the audience can receive answers from the speaker to their questions.
