Part 1 – Notice of 2023 Annual General Meeting

Please join us in the IEBCA's 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM), which has been scheduled to take place in person on Saturday, November 25, 2023. The AGM will be followed with a technical presentation by a guest speaker from Engineers and Geoscientists BC. The agenda of the AGM includes:

1. Welcome and Introduction
2. Overview of Meeting Rules and Protocols
3. Motion to approve the Minutes of the 2022 AGM (please see Note 1 below)
4. 2022-2023 Annual Report by the President of IEBCA
5. Introduction of a Slate of Candidates for 2022-2023 Board of Directors of IEBCA (please see Part 3 of this notice)
6. Election of 2023-2024 Board of Directors of IEBCA
7. Closing Remarks
8. Adjournment

Note 1 – Minutes of 2022 AGM of IEBCA: This document shall be provided to IEBCA members via email.

Note 2 – Eligibility to Vote: Per Section II.15.(a) of IEBCA Bylaws, only Full Members who are a “member in good standing” (i.e., paid their membership fee) for “at least three (3) months prior to the date of the general meeting” can vote at the AGM. Please see Part 2 of this notice (below) regarding renewing your membership.

Part 2 – IEBCA Membership Renewal

As per Section III.3 of IEBCA Bylaws, “The membership year shall commence on the 1st day of November and terminate on the 31st day of October, and the dues shall be payable at the commencement of the membership year.”

Part 3 – Call for Nominations for Board of Directors

As the term of 2022-2023 Board of Directors of Iranian Engineers of BC Association (IEBCA) comes to an end by our 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is scheduled for November 25, 2023, IEBCA would like to thank its current Board members for their contributions and making the 2022-2023 another successful year for the Association. As well, in preparation for the AGM and election of new Board members for the year 2023-2024, IEBCA is calling for nominations from its eligible members to join the Board of Directors.

Per Section II.15.(b) of the IEBCA Bylaws, eligible candidates for Board of Directors are Full Members who have been in good standing (i.e., paid annual membership fees) for “at least six (6) months prior to the date of the general meeting”. Also, per the Bylaws, architects, engineers, and geoscientists can equally be accepted to become a member of the Association; therefore, the term “engineer” is used as an overarching terminology to include these three groups of professionals.

As part of the Board of Directors, one can experience the joy of connecting, supporting, and empowering the Iranian engineers in BC to excel in their professional and social life while expanding their own network of professionals and leaders in the architectural/engineering/construction industry and the community at large. While the main focus of IEBCA’s services is towards its members, IEBCA activities honour equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.

Board members shall attend regular monthly and occasional Board meetings to plan and steer the organization's direction and events. Overall, every Board member will serve a two-year term, and can expect to dedicate, at least, an average of about 10 hours a month for the Board’s activities. Eligible members interested in joining the Board of Directors, especially those who have been participating in IEBCA activities and have a good understanding of IEBCA's processes, are invited to send their nomination (including a brief CV and a letter of intent outlining how they would like to contribute to IEBCA) to info@iebca.ca no later than 5:00 PM on November 22, 2023.
