Structural Rehabilitation Using Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Composite Systems in BC

Sat May 25 2024 21:00:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)

Please join the Iranian Engineers of BC Association (IEBCA) in an informative in-person presentation by Dr. Mahmoud Ramezankhani, P. Eng. from Hexa Engineering. This is an in-person event, and the presentation is in English. Registration is required for attending the event.

This presentation focuses on the innovative use of Carbon and Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP & GFRP) composite systems in structural rehabilitation, strengthening, and seismic retrofitting in British Columbia (BC). These systems enhance strength and durability for various structures such as; concrete, steel, timber, masonry, CMU blocks, etc. The key points of the presentation include:
• Overview of CFRP & GFRP: highlighting their high strength, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant properties.
• Application in rehabilitation: addressing issues like flexure, shear, and confinement in existing and new structures, with examples from BC projects.
• Seismic retrofitting: enhancing structures' resilience to earthquakes with CFRP & GFRP systems, illustrated through BC case studies.
• Application areas: versatility shown in bridges, reinforced-concrete parkades, high-rise buildings, commercial buildings, water reservoirs, and large water pipes, etc.
• Case studies: visual examples of installed systems from BC projects demonstrate the effectiveness of CFRP & GFRP systems.
